Two months since we last checked in at the site of The Hub in northwest Calgary, and progress has been moving along nicely. The former excavation site has given bloom to a fresh crop of rebar and concrete pilings as construction crews busy themselves on-site.
The Hub by Campus Suites and ARK Inc. will consist of a 28-storey, 328-unit rental tower aimed at students of the adjacent University of Calgary. Located at Banff Trail and 16 Ave NW, close to transit and the aforementioned campus, The Hub will have truly earned its name.
Situated along a former strip of hotels once known as "Motel Village," the development sits within the Banff Trail Station Area Redevelopment Plan zone, part of a multi-stage city-building project aimed at making better use of available lands near high-density areas. Close as well to the Banff Trail CTrain station, The Hub will feature easy access between the UofC and downtown.
Having tackled the area's sandy soil, progress on The Hub has now sped up considerably. Once complete, the development will represent an influx of upwards of 400 students and young professionals.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
