Two months since we last checked in at Lyfe Marda Loop, and exterior cladding work has now all but completed. The five-storey mid-rise residential block by PK Developments and Casola Koppe Architects will soon be structurally complete, its black, grey, and red colour scheme a standout feature of this project.

Located at 33 Ave SW and Crowchild Trail in South Calgary, the 154-unit development will soon deliver upwards of 200 new residents to the bustling 33 Ave SW corridor. Within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants, and a quick commute by car into the city, Lyfe Marda Loop will be a popular address for those looking for a mix of urban and suburban living.

A boon as well to local businesses, the influx of regular foot (or car) traffic to the aforementioned commercial district will help enliven the area. The timber frame structure has gone up relatively quickly, the application of its multi-colour cladding signalling that the end is nigh for the project's construction phase.

Lyfe Marda Loop is a good example of the so-called "missing middle" that cities across North America are in desperate need of, filling the gap between single family homes and high-density towers.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the discussion in the comments section below.
