A month ago we reported that site clearance was underway at the site of Eisenberg Properties' mixed-use proposal in Kensington. Today we report that construction is now underway with a caisson driller working away on site. The project, simply called 'Eisenberg', will be a three-storey building, consisting of retail on the main floor and two floors of boutique office space.

The building, which was designed by NORR Architects, was proposed back in April of this year, and demolition of the existing building began about six weeks ago. Zoning allows for a building taller than three floors, however Eisenberg properties chose to go with a smaller scale to keep it a bit more in context with its neighbours to the south. To the north of Eisenberg is Basttistella's recently completed Lido project. An eight-storey mixed-use building which opened in late 2016.

Eisenberg is the most recent Kensington project to start construction, following Anthem PropertiesMemorial Drive development. Once the work with the caisson driller is done and the piles are in, excavation will follow. SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues.
