Calgary's Inglewood has been busy with new developments in recent years as the city's oldest neighbourhood continues to quietly evolve as new arrivals keep adding to its ongoing evolution. Calgary-based Torode Realty Advisors Inc is behind plans to build a 6-storey, 60-unit mixed-use project called "Irvine," and construction is just around the corner. The site is kitty corner to another one of Torode's projects, the recently completed Inglewood, which opened in 2016.

The building was designed by NORR Architects, and construction will be looked after by BMP Construction Management. Aside from the 60 residential units, there will also be 5 retail units at street level combining for a total retail space of 6,000 square feet. The retail units will be a bonus to the community, and given the prominent location, it's not a surprise that all 5 units are already leased.

A representative from Torode confirmed that they are waiting on one last permit and construction is due to start at any time. Once complete, Irvine will be a welcome addition to Inglewood, the prominent site along 9 Ave SW in the heart of the neighbourhood having been vacant for over a decade.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
