Three months since we last checked in at the site of Cidex Group's West Village Towers, and progress has been moving along steadily, the three-tower development now standing several storeys above grade. Located at the corner of 11 St SW and 9 Ave SW, in the Downtown West End, adjacent to Shaw Millennium Park, walking distance to the West Kerby CTrain station, and just a few blocks south of the Bow River, the development is well-situated for those looking for a mix of urban living and natural splendour.

Comprised of three residential high-rises, slated at 150, 125, and 100 metres respectively, the 554-unit complex will deliver upwards of 800 new residents to the area, helping to enliven this somewhat sleepy stretch of urban landscape. Adding to the future vibrancy of the site, the towers will be interconnected by a multi-storey commercial podium base, which will include a full range of services.

Viewed above and below, the tallest of the towers will occupy the far western edge of the site, at 11 St SW and 9 Ave SW, while the second-tallest (below-right) will stand at the corner of 10 St SW and 9 Ave SW, leaving the third-tallest to take up the north end of the site.

Set for completion by 2019/20, West Village Towers represents the changing face of Calgary's Downtown West End, an often overlooked frontier close to the core, which like the Beltline to the south, East Village to the east, and Eau Claire riverside district to the north, has been slower in its overall redevelopment.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
