Calgary's northwest skyline is about to change as The Hub, a 28-storey residential tower is now under construction. In May 2017 Skyrisecities broke news that the tower was proposed for Calgary's Banff Trail neighborhood, and since that time the project has been going through the usual permit processes. Extra soil testing was needed for this development, as that area is known for notoriously sandy soil. Various test piles were installed to make determinations on the types piles to be used.

With all permit processes and soil tests completed, Toronto-based Campus Suites confirmed that construction is indeed officially underway. The Hub marks an important milestone for Calgary and the community of Banff Trail, as it is the first tower to begin construction since the City of Calgary first proposed new zoning for the area. The Banff Trail Station Area Redevelopment Plan called for zoning changes that increased density in a part of Banff Trail, known colloquially as "Motel Village."

Once completed, The Hub will contain 328 rental units, most of which will be geared towards students. The location of The Hub makes it ideal for students, sitting nearly adjacent to the UofC and just a short walk away from the Banff Trail LRT station. Beyond the university, the development is also close to the Calgary's Foothills medical complex, one of Calgary's largest employers.
