Two months since our last update, and progress at the site of Groupe Germain's LEMAYMICHAUD Architecture-designed ALT Hotel has been moving along swiftly, its brilliantly boxy silhouette, recently captured on our Forum, looking larger than life from its home in East Village.

Notable for its modular construction, ALT Hotel was assembled with pre-built blocks, making this a standout project for the neighbourhood, and indeed the city. Rapidly nearing completion, the 11-storey, 155-room hotel will soon bring an influx of tourists and other overnight guests to East Village.

Viewed from across the Bow River, ALT Hotel has truly become a staple of the East Village skyline, the neighbourhood itself having grown a great deal in just a few short years.

Back across the George C. King Bridge, the view from the street is impressive, the blocky massing of the tower appearing to rise seamlessly from the more subdued, smooth, glass curtain wall that comprises the podium base and future main entrance to the ground floor retail and lobby areas of the hotel.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
