The former Alberta Boot site in Calgary's Beltline was the location for a celebration recently. Vancouver-based Axiom Builders held a ceremony to commemorate the topping off of a two-tower project in the development-rich neighbourhood, and SkyriseCalgary was there to help mark the event.

Axiom has been a well-known, experienced builder in the Vancouver area for some time now, but is a relative newcomer to Calgary's construction scene. Despite the recent arrival, Axiom has been making a considerable mark in the city, building six major towers in Calgary in the last five years. All six towers have been in Calgary's Beltline, starting with Drake condominiums. Next up were the two 44-storey Guardian towers, and shortly after that came Park Point, which was recently topped off. These two towers, often called the 'Alberta Boot Towers' because of the location's preexisting Alberta Boot Factory, are the company's latest.

The two-tower project which was designed by IBI Group represents one of the largest projects built in the Beltline. Developed by GWL Realty Advisors + QuadReal Property Group, it consists of a 33-storey, 390-suite hotel tower that will be operated as a Residence Inn by Marriott . The second tower is a 36-storey, 305-unit residential rental tower, that will be owned and managed by QuadReal Property Group once fully completed. When asked if the residential tower had a name yet, Anthony Lanni, Senior Vice President of Residential for QuadReal, confirmed that no name has been chosen yet, but that it will be announced shortly.

Calgary city council member Evan Woolley noted that this project was one of the most important in the core because of the way it ties Calgary's central business district to the neighbouring Beltline district. The towers are also positioned in a walkable location that is easily accessible to the downtown core for hotel guests and tenants alike. It's also located adjacent to the 5th Street cycle track.
