Over the past week, both residents and non-residents of Calgary have been voting for their favourite buildings in our year-end poll. With the help of our information-heavy Database files, voters are determining the most-loved projects across three main categories: those completed before 2016, those completed in 2016, and those under construction.

In the category listing 2016's completed buildings over 10 storeys, nearly 45 percent of the 63 respondents at the time of writing have checked the box next to DIALOG's Kahanoff Two. Though it has captured an impressive 28 votes so far, the Eau Claire Tower isn't too far behind with 17 votes. The Guardian is just edging out Evolution's Pulse tower, which at eight votes apiece, is currently tied with Mark on 10th

It looks like a runaway in the subcategory of shorter 2016 completions, with Studio Bell commanding nearly 70 percent of the vote. YYC's New International Terminal is in second with about 25 percent of voters selecting it as one of their favourites, with GLAS leading the residential projects at almost 16 percent.

For projects under construction, the over 10 storey category contains some of Canada's most highly anticipated buildings. A whopping 84 percent have given their seal of approval to Bjarke Ingels Group's first Canadian project, Telus Sky, while Brookfield Place has amassed approximately 25 percent of voters' approval. With 10 and 9 votes respectively, 707 Fifth and Park Point sit in third and fourth places.

A similar story has emerged in the category of under-construction projects 10 storeys and below. The New Central Library has been given the thumbs up from 44 out of the 63 respondents. At the moment, the only other development with votes in the double digits is Steps Bridgeland, which has been selected by 10 individuals. Collecting 32 votes, The Bow is easily leading the pack of all-time favourites. With 10 votes, Eighth Avenue Place is a distant second, while the Fairmont Palliser sits in third.

Our sister site UrbanToronto is also running its third annual poll to select the city's best completed building of 2016. So far, Picasso, The Globe and Mail Centre, and 383 Sorauren have substantial leads over their competitors.

If you haven't voted yet, make your choices at this link! The poll will remain open until December 20, so get out the vote! The final results will be published on December 23rd.
