Wonder what the totals from this deluge will be, it's absolutely pouring downtown and the rain is only supposed to get heavier!

Only 45.8 mm of rain from that storm, at the airport at least. Doesn't seem like much at all, considering how bad it was. And that includes the microburst with the hailstorm Sunday as well.

We've got another one on the way as well, starting tonight.

This summer seems to be more rainy. It either seems to be raining or 30 degrees.

Definitely a rainy summer so far, don't mind much if it keeps the smoke at bay. Would be nice to have a full week of nice hot weather though...

Great summer for trees (excluding the hail damage in parts of the city) after some tough ones of super dry and hot. These deeper, soaking rains are really good. Another 30 to 50mm tomorrow too!

The city is very green and lush this year, nice change from a very dry spring! Big downside is the mosquitos are out in force this year, can't even sit in my yard and have a beer without getting swarmed!

Oh my god Good thing ive been doing back to back tours of the region in the wettest week in almost 20 years!!! Ugh!

So is this the wettest July ever, or does it just feel like it. Haven't been mountain biking in a month since the trails are all mud and running water. Where was this moisture during snowboard season?!

Yeah its pretty exceptional this year. Ive never seen the rivers running high for such a sustained period.

167.5 mm of rain this month, with two days worth of rain data missing, so likely higher.

Average rainfall for July is 65.7 mm, but we haven't even hit that in like a decade.

Is it enough to now declare the drought conditions over? Or, is that a year by year thing?

I heard yesterday that it's 5th wettest July on record.

Yesterday also may have bumped it to 4th or even 3rd, with another 25.3 mm of rain (part of the 167.5 mm). The data about 5th place wouldn't have included that yet.

I also wonder how localized the drought classifications are - so much of Southern Alberta's rain is thunderstorm based, so inevitably leads to high local variations on rainfall totals.

For example, Calgary's up to 160mm+ of rain for the month, while Lethbridge is only at 60mm for the month.
