Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Maybe Doug will get his wish of a large Vegas style resort/Casino development on the grounds?
Site is too small to accomidate sufficient kitsch. Need something like this but even more Vegasy

I don't know if we need a thread for this specific project just yet, I say wait until we see a development permit. These zoning exercises happen often, with little to show for it years later. It will be interesting to see if we get something here, let alone a 24 storey high rise.

I don't know about yall, but I think our 2030 top 20-something buildings diagram is pretty cute 😏 (minus Stephen Avenue Quarter)

It may not be the most popular take, but I think this one might actually be too dense..

It looks nice, but almost comes off as a luxury finished Kowloon on the ground. While the open plaza idea is great, it's going to be perma-shadowed with four towers like that. Maybe lose the SE tower but keep the podium part?
I definitely disagree, I think this would be an amazing boost to the area and city. Sure hope this goes ahead as is! Calgary is slowly becoming a real city.

Pretty soon here we're going to see a BP for Arriva 2. I'm joking but also not. Victoria Park/East Beltline is stepping all over East Village's toes.
Oh great to hear. And yes, EV really is taking a long time to come together, and won't be nearly as dense as Victoria Park, which I feel is a missed opportunity, but it will still be nice when it is fully built out (in like 15 years lol)

Kinda crazy to see the height difference between the W and Boradway on 17th, which was previously the proposal for the tallest residential in Calgary only a few mere months ago.
