Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

The ever-forward march of urban progress has relegated you to street parking like an animal. When will the madness end...
I know you're joking, but one will still be able to enter the parking lot from 7 St, and it looks like there's only a net loss of 2 spots (22 -> 20).

DP submitted for corner of MacLeod & Heritage (SE corner this time). First phase will be replacing a portion of existing strip mall with a 26 storey tower. No details as of yet on future phases but I believe it will be more towers of similar size & height. Should be showing up in DMAP in the next few days...

Looks very typical of a residential tower outside of the core. Good location for it.

Have heard on very good authority that something is definitely in the works for the Keynote 4 site. 2 towers, residential. That is all the details for now.
Awesome to hear! With Victoria Park/Stampede Station's renovation complete along with the BMO Centre, and with Scotia Place underway, this area is ripe for new development.

Also, I hope to see something soon in that parking lot off of Macleod and between 14 and 15 Avenues. Sick of seeing junkies there.

That is the site of Truman's rumoured Stampede Station project. Hopefully we won't have to wait long to see that one.

As good, bad, plain or innovative this development could be, the most important factor is how responsive the MacLeod Trail and Heritage intersection is to 100x the pedestrian traffic to the LRT.

Spoiler: it still sucks. The city desperately needs to push forward a plan to completely redo Macleod. We're just kicking the can down the road, as we always do. We never build infrastructure concurrently with development. We just let the development happen willy nilly and then 10 years later we're like "oh crap, there's no transit serving any of this" or "oh crap, all this new TOD and pedestrian uses are right next to a stroad"

As a pedestrian leaving the tower to be, I'd go south to 86th Ave and cross Macleod there. At least you have the pedestrian bridge to cross Horton road and the tracks. Macleod here is a lost cause, from 86th Ave to 75th Ave it is a freeway and I honestly don't know how you undo it in this section. Other sections of Macleod have a much better chance of changing. Funny thing it just so happens this is where a lot of development is planned to occur... Guess it really isn't funny.
