Anyone know what the plan is for this interchange's connectivity? Am I right in assuming that's the path South of it will take? It seems to me to be a bit of a waste of money to have put an interchange there. Maybe in 10-15 years it might serve a purpose idk.

I believe it’s just for the future communities north of Stoney. Won’t connect to anything in the south for now. Hard at work getting it built to connect to current dirt roads in the north

The North Calgary Regional Transportation Study prioritized improved links between Airdrie and North Calgary. So in the 2028 timeframe, the goal is to upgrade most of Range Road 11 between 40 Ave (Airdrie) to 144 Ave (Calgary) and connect it to the new 11st Interchange to allow for another direct route onto Stoney Trail.

That study was heavily criticised by the city, not sure how much weight it still carries. That said, the province did find the 40th Ave interchange.in Airdrie.

edit: Actually, looking at that list further, #2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 are all funded/underway. So, maybe this list does carry some weight. Although, makes you wonder why they skipped some in their funding.

4 would be concurrent or just after the Deerfoot expansion planned. 1 makes no sense until after 5. 6 and 10 could be seen as interchangeable from a political perspective for Cochrane commuters, and despite the lower score Cochrane needed an electoral bauble. 7 was lower priority until the city came to agreement with the airport on connectivity as part of some round of stimulus (wow those projects take forever—that was an early NDP project!).

I was under the impression #7 was being fought by the City, as it will allow Omni by Genesis to proceed, taking more non-res development out of the City's tax base and into the County. Genesis and the County must have made a strong enough case to the Province to see it go forward.

Perhaps. Had it confused with the turning ramps.

^Looks like what is needed at Deerfoot & Beddington Tr. - a southbound to westbound ramp.

Is #3 on that list actually underway ?
(I haven’t been out to Cochrane in a while).

Adding a southbound to westbound ramp to Beddington Trail and Deerfoot would likely require Beddington Trail to be completely converted into a Freeway up to at least Country Hills Blvd. Beddington Trail is already pretty cramped during rush hour.
