Geez, that's crazy. I mean it looks like it fits right in with the rest of the street. I wonder if the new blanket zoning is the only reason it got off the ground?

My thoughts exactly. It looks no bigger or higher than a semi-detached that is all over the inner-city. They even had the 3rd floor only be in the centre so from the side it's no taller than a 2 storey build.
 
A NIMBY is gonna NIMBY, and he is apparently pretty well connected at the City level too.

DP was approved in February 2022 and SDAB denied an appeal from Brian Bass, David Brindle, and Paul Galachiuk in June 2022.

What did these folks do post-appeal to hold the project up for another 3 years?

Wow. I get that people have the right to be concerned about developments around them surroundings, but stuff like this is beyond ridiculous.
