Perhaps the city could offer the owner to buy up some land and the same price as adjacent land, then cover the rest of the cost out of city coffers?
It doesn't look like that much of a problem? It's not a tall condo and a duplex on the site would most likely mean an additional 2 car garage facing the alley, which also acts like a barrier for the backyard (alongside existing trees).$1.5 million to have the back of a condo, parade, ventilation fans and all, behind your back yard.
This is Onward Homes KillarneyMulti family Infill on 17 completed.
Is it this? The affordable housing complex on 20th ave and 6th street NW appears to be under construction. There was a rendering floating around somewhere but I can't seem to find it now.
I was kind of surprised about the units. There are other 16 unit builds in the area on much smaller spaces. They could have easily put something like Homespace 12th ave on this lot.Good to see that affordable housing project on 20th finally getting underway, but it's alarming to me that Calgary Housing took so many years to get to start of construction on a measly 16 units. That's not even enough to be called a drop in the bucket at a time when we need a lot more non-market housing...
