She’s been completely levelled 🥲

Just got a notice from my community opposing an expansion to the Edworthy North parking lots. The city are planning to expand the lot by the new Shaganappi Pump Station and pave the small lot at the end of 37th street. Never a fan of new parking lots, but Edworthy is super popular and does kind of need it. DMap

Parking can be a free for all in the summer too, paining lines would only be a benefit. Just not looking forward to more construction, noise and dust this summer, seems to be never ending over there lol. At some point in the not to distant future they are going to start building stuff across Bowness Rd from me, that area is super under utilized currently.

How about the city turns the property into a greenspace until it’s needed for the Greenline?
Isn't most of it owned by a developer, Harvard Developments? They're out of SK I think and haven't built much other than detached residential and strip malls. Wish it had been owned by a Truman or Anthem that can build something of scale.

Anyone know what the work currently happening in the south parking lot of North Hill Mall is related to ?
They appeared to be replacing underground pipe. Is it simply utilities upgrade/maintenance or is in preparation for some kind of redevelopment ?

Believe it's related to the remediation of the plume associated with the old Sears gas station. Unclear if any redevelopment can take place while this is a thing,

The last proposal for this site was a Sears/Concord 50-50 residential project. Sears is obviously not around anymore so not sure if the sale actually happened or it was resold by one of Sears creditors.

At the rate things are going with North Hill, I wonder if it's a place to do a mix of market and affordable housing? Use some money from affordable housing grants, some money from the city, and some money from a developer, and if we're lucky some money from the province. There's also Suncor who is supposed to be on the hook for part of this.

It's a strange area - you have the dead-ish mall and the sketchy train station (or at least the green space near the train station is sketchy), but then behind the train station you have $$$$ Briar Hill.

The area has a weird feel for sure. The far western portion of the mall is really busy, with the food court seemingly busy all day long. Travel west down the mall, and it gets deader by the foot. I think if they were able to get rid of Sears and build say 4 decent sized buildings (2 x 12 floors, and 2 x 18 floors) The rest of the mall would take off. I mean it would be a fantastic place to live. Right beside SAIT, an LRT station a grocery store and a Home Depot.
