Isn't most of it owned by a developer, Harvard Developments? They're out of SK I think and haven't built much other than detached residential and strip malls. Wish it had been owned by a Truman or Anthem that can build something of scale. How about the city turns the property into a greenspace until it’s needed for the Greenline?
Believe it's related to the remediation of the plume associated with the old Sears gas station. Unclear if any redevelopment can take place while this is a thing,Anyone know what the work currently happening in the south parking lot of North Hill Mall is related to ?
They appeared to be replacing underground pipe. Is it simply utilities upgrade/maintenance or is in preparation for some kind of redevelopment ?
The area has a weird feel for sure. The far western portion of the mall is really busy, with the food court seemingly busy all day long. Travel west down the mall, and it gets deader by the foot. I think if they were able to get rid of Sears and build say 4 decent sized buildings (2 x 12 floors, and 2 x 18 floors) The rest of the mall would take off. I mean it would be a fantastic place to live. Right beside SAIT, an LRT station a grocery store and a Home Depot. It's a strange area - you have the dead-ish mall and the sketchy train station (or at least the green space near the train station is sketchy), but then behind the train station you have $$$$ Briar Hill.
