Deciphering Calgary Permit Notices

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with deciphering the public permit notices from the City of Calgary. I find them to be unnecessarily unclear or maybe it's just me?

Here's an example:

From public notices:

DP2018-5302 Address: 818 17 AV NW
Proposed Use: Accessory Residential Building
Description: New: Single Detached Dwelling, Backyard Suite

From the planning and development map:

What is this application about?
New: Single Detached Dwelling, Backyard Suite (above garage), Accessory Residential Building (garage)

The property in question:

So is this an application for a garage? A new house? A new house with a garage?

Other examples, what is the difference between these two if any?:

Proposed Use: ACCESSORY BUILDING
Description: New: Single Detached Dwelling

Proposed Use: Accessory Residential Building
Description: New: Semi-Detached Dwelling, Accessory Residential Building (garage)

This all seems unnecessarily confusing and unclear.


Secondly, what are "SB" permits. Subdivision?
e.g.
SB2018-0375
Proposed Use: Semi Detached Dwelling(s)
Description: (ePlans) Tentative Plan - Residential - Inner City - BOWNESS 0 - Section 34W

Yes, SB files are subdivision files. Typically (in that context) a lot split.

As for the rest of it, unfortunately I think it is just a product of different individuals providing the information, so it is going to be inconsistent/unclear.
