Foundation for this one is done already so when it gets going it'll rise quickly.

Edit: or is it only half done?
It's been a long time since I have been past that parcel but I think the foundation is only done on the west half, pretty much in line with where the exisitng building foundation stops.

Good to see, the Riff is the part of EV I was most looking forward to! Who owns the site to the SW of this one where the rest of the Riff was supposed to go?
Still controlled by CMLC I think. There was an RFP back in 2018ish I think for it that Cidex one, but then passed on, then it went to Hines, who also seemed to have passed on it. Maybe this newfound momentum in East Village will mean we will soon see a proposal on it, but nothing so far.

What's going on in East Village, why now? Is it that the Beltline can only build so much, the Scotia Fire Place? Or I wonder if CMLC is trying to turnover East Village before moving on to East Victoria Park.

Looking at this old pic from 2017, you can see some concrete work has been done, and also some piles have been put in place, but the concrete work isn't far enough to east to cover the new building. At least the piles have been placed which might speed things up.

Also thism pic from 2017, same tghing. Concrete work done, but probably not far enough eastward.

Regardless how long the East Village is taking to be built out, it's a still a fraction of the time these buildings will be standing. Anything being built is shortsighted. It's not about personal design preference. It's complete indifference to design. That kinda hurts in a community like this. I guess it also could be insulation with the developer building whatever they choose to build within the context of the approved DP. We don't have a say.

That design is just wonky. The green is unpleasant but, the other sides are just offset everything. Red brick would look good.

I walked past the site yesterday and the footprint for the proposed building is larger than the foundation already built.
That said, maybe the underground portion that’s already built doesn’t have to match the footprint of the proposed building.

Need more details on the actual finishes before making judgment. Don't think anyone wou be complaining if it's green tile like in the link below.

I checked into it and the tower cladding is a prefinished aluminum metal panel in the colour "juniper green". Not sure if that's good or bad.

I don't disagree that the south face is a little awkward, continuing the brick around the south face would have made for a more coherent design.
