Calgary's getting there slowly but surely. I've lived here for 20 years and have seen the changes. Having a steady stream of friends and relatives visiting from Europe I always get feedback, and over the years the feedback has been getting better. They all love the mountains and surrounding geography, but as for the city, these are the things that seem to get positive feedback. Some are things you might not expect.

-River and pathways. Everyone has found the Bow river to be beautiful, and like the way the pathways wind and weave. They like the natural feel of the river.
-Stampede has always been a hit, that's an obvious one.
-Heritage Park
-The Core and the +15. Yup, it even impressed my relatives from Paris.
-Nose Hill. Nothing like Nose Hill in European cities...or most cities anywhere for that matter.
-17th ave and Stephen ave have been good too. They don't compete with some of the stuff in Munich, Paris, Berlin where my visitors are from, but they seem to like those spots
-McHugh Bluff. A stroll on a nice evening always impresses.
