The Barron | 43m | 11s | Strategic Group | Gibbs Gage

The Plaza theatre was the coolest Art Deco element of the building. Also, there were some really neat details in the elevators (I seem to recall a monkey bas relief panel) that must have been lost in the interior demolition.
I liked the colourful terrazzo floors in the lobby, and honestly even the vintage bathrooms.

Why is this project taking a decade. It's like they're building the Sagrada Familia. This building is of middling significance as an art deco building, globally. It's only special because it's the best of its kind in Calgary.
Bankruptcy Creditor protection and not paying your contractors doesn't speed things along. It personally boggles my mind how they're going to make supposedly high end rentals profitable in this part of downtown, with no balconies or views.

Something about the uniqueness of the product. How tall will the ceilings be? The location is also ace

I still find it weird how they haven’t even started replacing the original windows

Are those windows on the east elevation with the stickers on them not the new windows? They look different and some appear to open
Oh you might be right! Looks like just the east elevation, nothing on the south yet. Looks decent though. No spandrel! 🥳
