Stampede Station | 270m | 69s | Truman | NORR

I love this. Can’t wait to see it fully built out!

Surprising that the tallest building in Calgary won’t be downtown. Maybe we’ll see even more tall towers like this, maybe not as tall, but over 150 metres in the Beltline

I am amazed Truman can financially support the level of development they are. Thinking back to their size only a decade ago, that's a wild amount of scaling up they have done. Add another $1.5B to their portfolio with these hotels. Impressive stuff.

To see this one through, just got to hope we don't have a global recession and economic collapse before shovels get in the ground . Hopefully we break the trend - often the biggest projects are announced right before the next crash! Luckily, we often finish them.
  • Telus Sky (2013 announced, 2015 crash)
  • Brookfield Plan (2012 announced, 2015 crash)
  • The Bow (2006 announced, 2008 crash)
It would be fascinating to know more about how the financing works for such a large and rapidly growing portfolio at a company like Truman.
I'm always amazed at Truman, and kind of worried as well. I can't believe how much they've taken on.

I've been under the assumption that the three Truman towers downtown was mostly funded by outside investors (due to the advertising on that Toronto condo site) and Truman was more managing the project, but maybe someone with more knowledge can shed come light.

I guess he's not aware of Vancouver's recent 315m hotel proposal?

The bar for the tallest in Western Canada is at 315m now...

The caveat is 'if built' which would be for both proposals. But yeah, if the Vancouver one gets built then, it would be taller.

That'd also be in Metro-Van, Burnaby

McCarthy Plaza, 258m. So we're still 10m short

The official height for this one is still unknown (Surrealplaces is using 248m as an educated guess). It's also not clear to me whether the tallest is a fact, or if it's a misinterpretation of Truman's announcement of "two of the tallest...".

We will have to wait until the formal DP submission to determine if they'll be the tallest in the west (or even the tallest in Calgary, for that matter).

I guess we need to wait until a DP is in to get the final height, or if anyone knows who the architect is, we may find some numbers that way.

Like @Mountain Man said, until this or the other Vancouver proposals are built, Stantech is the bar.
