Saw the updated renders of these last week. They've changed the white cladding to black... not a fan.

I wouldn’t be a fan either. I prefer they stayed with the light beige, but maybe the black will cool.

That side of the BMO centre has dark grey cladding. Adding another black hotel next door, doesn't feel like an inviting entrance to Stampede grounds.

Changed to 14 storeys (see DP2025-03902) - thanks for the update.

The white looked great against the dark windows. Black cladding will be a whole lotta dark, but I’ll wait until I see the renders to form my opinion.

Ive been wondering if they couldn't just salvage the southeastern 1/3 of the lower bowl of the Saddledome and use that as a basis of the outdoor amphitheater. Seems like a good way to make the cost palatable to the Stampede.

And then put a new lightweight canopy roof on top that is saddledome shaped.

It's such a no brainer I will keep harping on it every time this gets brought up

That would actually fit with the theme of Autograph hotels which are supposed to be different and boutique for each property.

Just borrow the design from the PNE Amplitheter and add that to the old Saddle dome bowl.

Ideally if an amphitheatre is built it's enclosed with a retractable roof of some kind so it can be used in the winter months

That would be perfect - and a good way to pay homage to the saddledome.
It just makes sense in so many ways.

I can't tell if this is satire lol. It would be way cheaper and more practical to just demolish it and rebuilt an amphitheater. 0% of the saddledome interior could be repurposed in any way

What would be better, an open air amphitheatre or a secondary arena on the Saddledome site? Both would likely need a capacity of at least 7k. An amphitheatre obviously would be cheaper, but can only be used in the warm months. An arena could attract teams like the Hitman and Calgary Surge.

CSEC don't want any other arenas taking away revenue from them, even one the size of the Corral. I think it's a shame because the Corral was perfect for smaller concerts.
