Wow, this McDonald's is a complete rebuild - I was expecting a renovation. Much better presence on 17th for sure:
I live in Bankview, and to be honest it's nice to have a drive thru nearby. Moving it to the rear of the site is a big improvement over the existing layout though.
The upper deck is nice. It's dragging Mcdonald's into the urban era.

In other sad news, Silver Inn is closing on October 9th. Silver Inn is widely-accepted as the origin of Ginger Beef, an iconic dish that originally hails from Calgary.

Pig & Duke on 12 ave shut down due to a cockroach infestation, yikes! Love that place, hope they get it sorted.
That sucks, I liked that place too. I stopped by for a pint a couple times while cycling past there.

Not a Calgary restaurant, but I went to The Three Bears in Banff over the weekend, great spot and great food. If you're in Banff definitely check them out. It's a bit pricy, but damn was that a good meal. They are a brewery too and I quite enjoyed their Pilsner!

I've been looking for new sushi restaurants lately, not a lot of good ones in Calgary these days, lots and lots of OK places though.

That space has had a lot of turnover, hopefully something good and stable!
