Nice pics - great to see another Canadian city booming like Toronto...

what the hell kind of a hideous building is this?!?

IMG_1323.jpg

its the first of 3 high rise condo towers called Arriva, they are actually quite nice , its just a lousy angle.

Thank you for the good pictures.

The "hideous" building doesn't actually look so bad to me, it looks interesting. Although I would have to comment that, on the Etobicoke waterfront, the "sail" on top of the building might be construed as a reference to the sailboats out on the lake. I don't think such a connection would be made in Calgary.

I believe the story is its supposed to be a "feather" a throw back to the pioneer tradition of out here. I think it looks kinda art deco-ish...

...and less taste.

There are few projects I'd love to steal ... the mondrian inspired boutique office building is a real looker both inside and out.

It's really interesting that a city as small as Calgary (well at least in international terms) has so many highrise buildings.

its boom-town, this year should be an interesting one, there are rumours of a 900' tower will be proposed this year, the bow should start to rise out of that giant pit, and I'm sure there will be a few other little suprises.

Calgary is like a small Toronto with more money.

More money? Not really. There's a joke that all of Alberta's wealth is held by a small handfull of investors who live in the Bridle Path, Oakville and Burlington.
