Which mayoral candidate do you intend to vote for in 2021?

I've listened to their podcast and find him a bit annoying. Especially the most recent one where he's clearly trying to defend the Feds in the Air Canada strike but not in a "I believe this" kind of way, but a "this is my team and I defend everything they do" kind of way. Opposite him was Shannon Philips

The inner-city progressive vote split could have Wong return to office. It is why I don't mind polls as they can show people who to get behind in the that there are multiple candidates that share the same viewpoint. Polling on a per ward basis is almost impossible though so it's likely more accurate to go by the informal count of candidate signs in your ward.

In this case the parties will probably end up helping McRae, since she'll have more mobilization behind her as the progressive candidate. Joining Communities First will probably also hurt Wong, he's probably more centrist within that party, but will now be the "conservative" candidate.

Yeah, Heather McRea is the other candidate. Last election Heather McRea and Erin Waite were almost carbon copies of each other and their vote totals were almost the same. Together picked up 10,916 votes compared to Wong's 6,291.
I don't Hate Wong, but he's not progressive enough, and his opposition to bike lanes, means he'll never get my vote.

McRea came very close to beating him last time. My money is she'll take it this time. Well, here's hoping.
 
Rezoning for housing is a bit of an "X factor" that could influence the race in Ward 7. Anecdotally, some of my older friends in the area (who typically lean progressive) are pissed about it, and want Gondek (and the other pro-rezoning people) gone. Some of those people might support Wong even though he's right leaning. On the other hand, I can't imagine Wong's platform being appealing to students.

Also while were at it, I'm wondering what people about Brian Thiessen and the Calgary Party? I was hoping to avoid voting for candidates associated with a party, but almost all candidates seem to be either with a party or funded by PACs. The councilor I'm voting for in my ward is associated with the Calgary Party and I'm voting for her regardless of the party, but now it's got me wondering about Brian Thiessen. I really don't know much about him.

I like the fact that the Calgary Party are positioning themselves as the centrist option, which is roughly where my leanings are. But Thiessen just doesn't seem to be getting any momentum, and the race seems to be morphing into Gondek vs. Farkas - the sequel. As for my local CP candidate, Heather McRae, I haven't heard from her or her campaign, she has few signs up, and based on the very unscientific methodology of sign count and the fact that he came to my door, Myke Atkinson seems to be shaping up to be the main Wong alternative.
