Calgary International Airport

Its really easy to cross from HK to the mainland from the airport. A lot of the people on the HK flights I take are mainland Chinese
It's also why HKG-TPE has the highest seat count of any international route in the world. Mostly because TPE- Mainland China flights are extremely limited now.

that makes total sense

Any info on the schedule for those 2? The backlog is pretty long for 787s
Maybe instead of paying an anticipated penalty of Max 10 delivery delays? Or are those two cancelled but westjet painted 787s still sitting on the ground waiting for delivery to someone?

I think those are long gone. There's so much negotiation involved in aircraft deals that there's probably discounts/penalties all blended together in the new deals.

I'd be surprised if they're still sitting around. I believe C-FLWH was relocated from San Antonio to Seattle in 2023 to go to someone else, but I don't have a FlightRadar24 account to verify, and information on this frame (and the other one that I'm having trouble finding the tail for) is hard to come by.

Looking a bit further, it looks like C-FLWH's serial number is 64981 which is now with Royal Air Maroc along with C-FLJS/64980.

It’s on Planespotter and sounds like you’re right.

At some point something has to give and WestJet will put some of these new 787's on international routes not from YYC.

100% they will. I think they will build YYC up to all the routes they want at first then slowly add YYZ,YVR and other airports later. YYC is safer though because there is little other competition on those long haul flights from AC and international competition. Plus WS has a huge feeder network into YYC that it doesn’t have at other airports. So to me WS will treat YYC like BA favours LHR. The majority of long haul from there and scraps for other destinations

Yup, probably all the long haul that we can handle with their fortress hub and the operational limitations of YYC (elevation mainly) before it heads to the other major spots. I'd have to think it would be YYZ before YVR.
