I would have expected US traffic to be down a little at least. Is this maybe due to more Americans coming here? or maybe WS closing some US routes in other cities and filtering through YYC?

Interesting info related to YYC's increase in transborder stats. A lot of the increase is from connecting flights, but it also appears Calgary is seeing a rise in tourism direct to Calgary or likely Calgary/Banff.

From the article:
Reynolds said data has indicated that spending from the United States has trended positive since the beginning of the year in Calgary, and it has maintained strength through to the end of April.
She noted that Mastercard Economics Institute ranked Calgary among the emerging top destinations for summer travel among the US and Canada relative to the same time last year, the only Canadian city to make that list.

Interesting to see Calgary one of the few NA destinations that is seeing positive travel growth.

How much of this increase to Calgary could be related to US origin travellers connected through YYC on to international destinations?
Westjet is plane-constrained, and we didn't get many foreign airlines that increased capacity, Discover just moved a Frankfurt flight to Munich. Without the international increase, unless Canadians are travelling less internationally, there wouldn't be more transit passengers this year compared to last.
