Calgary Flames Official Thread

This team is so frustrating. Just what it looks like they are going to lie down in tank, they hang in and get some wins. 🙄

On the good news side, it looks like they are going to trade Andersson. I like him, but he’ll fetch a good draft pick plus the flames will have an fetch a good draft pick plus the Flames will have a better chance of losing once he’s gone. Any guesses where Andersson goes to?

Yep. We'll see if Coleman or Kadri gets traded. Overall a good trade for the Flames who weren't going anywhere. A defensemen + a prospect +a first round (2027) + a second round (2028) that could turn into a first round if Vegas wins the cup.
They also have Vegas' first round in 2026 (Hannifin trade). They'll be late in the first round, but still decent position.

Flames are not done, should be interesting to see what else they do. Could trade Whitecloud and/or more of their depth D. With Coleman and Kadri Steinberg has said if teams meet Calgary's ask that they'll do it but the ask is steep.

Think that was a pretty good return for Ras, sad to see him go but we have a wealth of picks coming up and Whitecloud can start playing immediately. I love the condition on the second pick too.

Think there will be another trade, Kadri could get us a similar return. Coleman a 2nd and player I think still too.

Coleman might fetch a more than people expect, especially close to the deadline. He's the prototypically deadline overpay because most playoff teams could use him, being a bottom 6 winger, and his pedigree on those Tampa cup winning teams. Scott Laughton fetched a 1st + decent prospect, Coleman should get close.

With Sherwood now traded out of Vancouver, Calgary has the market cornered on a scoring bottom 6 winger. No matter how they might want to keep him or he wants to stay, I think a ridiculous price gets paid for him. The Flames keeping getting painted into a corner keep these guys until they're UFAs and then somehow getting any return at all when one team ends up bidding against themselves.

I could see them hang onto him the rest of the year, give Parekh time to heal up and keep cycling some of the young guys through. I think Kuznetsov is staying, and Brzustewiciz is making a strong case as well.

Whitecloud looked pretty good last night, wonder if he will stick around or if we will move him as well.
We need to clear up this log jam on D to give young guys a shot. We lost Solovyev to waivers, he's by no means a star, but he's 25 and playing for the league leading Avalanche, we definitely could've used him. Although I think Whitecloud is genuinely interested in being here. I was at a Vegas game earlier this year and about 20 seats in front of us were all Whitecloud/Vegas jerseys. So he has some family here or nearby.
