You dont even need to tunnel. Just trench and cover the road
Don't waste your money, there's space for a gradual slope. You dont even need to tunnel. Just trench and cover the road
Uh oh, not this conversation again... I think it was had as part of the the 11th Street underpass. Or maybe it is in this thread. I proposed covering the avenue and integrating a hill into riverwalk west.We really need a pedestrian underpass or overpass at that location.
I was thinking of keeping the road where it is but just building over it.https://www.whitemad.pl/en/a-great-...-this-is-how-downtown-boston-was-redeveloped/
can be done something similar to Boston's big dig.
A leading pedestrian signal + this bump out would resolve a ton of issues with no change in car lanes. This one bump-out reduces the pedestrian crossing distance by 15 to 20% by just reclaiming a wild semi-truck supportive turn radii that isn't possible given the circulation pattern - it's this kind of wasteful overkill of car infrastructure that I hate the most, because it doesn't even have a beneficiary, it's just waste and making the road more unsafe for no reason!Would be good if it was an advance light for pedestrians and cyclists, crossings at a dual turn can be dangerous!
