Uh oh, not this conversation again... I think it was had as part of the the 11th Street underpass. Or maybe it is in this thread. I proposed covering the avenue and integrating a hill into riverwalk west.

I was thinking of keeping the road where it is but just building over it.

A leading pedestrian signal + this bump out would resolve a ton of issues with no change in car lanes. This one bump-out reduces the pedestrian crossing distance by 15 to 20% by just reclaiming a wild semi-truck supportive turn radii that isn't possible given the circulation pattern - it's this kind of wasteful overkill of car infrastructure that I hate the most, because it doesn't even have a beneficiary, it's just waste and making the road more unsafe for no reason!

With a leading interval, pedestrians would be mostly across and highly visible for turning traffic.

Intersection improvements or not, I'm a bit skeptical about how much use a park that's abutting a 5-lane thoroughfare will get. Probably about as much as that one in Vic Park next to McLeod Trail.

Tunneling Bow trail would definitely be ideal to connect it all, but doubt that's feasible in our lifetime.
