Calgary Car Thread

Always see this car parked outside bussin on 17th, owners maybe? Looked cool in the pink light

1. Buy childhood dream car from US in October. Maybe sneak in one more fall drive?
2. Takes a month to figure out shipping/export. Car finally gets here late November…literally as the first snowflakes of the season appear, so take it straight to garage to store for winter. Never mind a fall drive, don’t even have opportunity to do an out-of-province inspection.
3. 4 months of waiting, peaking, yearning.
4. Yay Spring is here. Need to book Out-of-Province Inspection, but hopefully get to drive soon!
5. Have to cancel inspection 2 separate times as Calgary weather is a cruel cocktease.
6. 3rd time is the charm! Weather cooperates on day of inspection.
7. Go to start the car…and nothing. Try boosting, nothing. Try new battery, nothing.
8. Off she goes for an inspection (and who knows what)…on a tow truck.

Bought this car almost 6 months ago…have still yet to drive it more than 10 feet. 😢

That looks like a 993? Sorry, not a HUGE Porsche guy, so they all sort of blend, but I can definitely tell it is of the air cooled variety. Good luck, hopefully it is a simple fix for you.

I was busy last Sunday, so couldn't get the NSX down from the lift and out of storage, but it is a "must do" this weekend (provided the weather holds). I am excited to get back in it, but some recent BaT results have me thinking some greedy thoughts.... Granted, mine is not the calibre of these, but rising tide lifting all boats and such....

This one is even bound for Calgary according to the buyer's comments:

And this is just.... insanity:

What a ripoff...$370K USD and they didn't even get the pop up headlights! ;) I knew they NSX went up in value, but I didn't realize it was that crazy now...

And yeah, mine is a 993. Hopefully whatever the issues is is minor (probably just from standing around so long)... but either way, still a nice paperweight?

Nice car! hope you get it sorted and for not a ridiculous cost. Wonder how tariffs affect parts for German cars in Canada...
The German part shouldn't be an issue (for now) but I think the bigger problem is that most of the part suppliers are in the US, so they will have to cross the border. Not sure if that means just duty fees, or tariffs too.

No, I've read that doing that is not necessarily good for them. I just fill em up with gas (and stabilizer) pop them on the battery tender, and let them sit. Sometimes the battery degrades anyway (which I was hoping for here). They always start up a little rough after sitting for so long, but an Italian tuneup and some fresh gas usually fixes that.

Just heard from the shop...looks like it was a silly little DME relay, which is super easy to swap and about as good (ie. cheap) of a solution as I could've hoped for.

Of course they also mentioned some oil leaks here and there, but I mean if an old Porsche isn't leaking then something's not right (or it's out of oil).
