I found another new image on the Populous site
That would be my guess. Are those LED panels on the ceiling of the overhang?
The Hotel looks to be planned for the parking lot NW of BMO next to Cowboys. An RFP was put forward for the site last year and a Land Use Redesignation earlier this year.Noticed a couple things in these images I grabbed from the video...
Looks like some kind of residential/professional building behind the expansion, it that's the vision I'm not sure that really ties into what they want "Stampede Way" to be. But it is just rendering.
In the image looking east on 17th Ave I noticed a large building behind what already exists on 17th. Thinking back to what the original idea was for the Stampede Park development, I believe they did have this area designated as a hotel and additional convention space. Granted not sure the convention space would be part of it at this point but I assume this building to be that hotel they envisioned. I say this knowing that that piece of Stampede Park is not part of the sections that CMLC was charged with developing and talked about finding a hotel partner. Personally, once both the BMO Expansion and new arena are completed (along with other developments CMLC will be driving around those two projects) the area could very well support two hotels, especially with one being located on "Stampede Way" and the other on 17th Ave SE.
Also, why would they put what looks like a cell tower in the image? Seems odd, not that a cell tower isn't going to be needed with all the extra people in the area. Just hope it's 5G .
Always thought a hotel would be better suited between the Casino and Olympic Way, understanding that parcel must have better street activation than the casino. I also think the area (when at least partially developed) could support another hotel where I think they envision one could be in the image. The Hotel looks to be planned for the parking lot NW of BMO next to Cowboys.
