Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Not related to the cycle tracks per se, but still for cycling in general. Peace Bridge counts up 10% over last January, despite being colder.

@bennessb Exactly. Sharrows are terrible, but removing them without any plan to replace them with better cycling infrastructure is completely backward. I had very high hopes for Edmonton's current council, and they have been working to improve the underlying city government structure that has been holding back a lot of progress, but even understanding that I'm beginning to get quite impatient with the lack of progress in areas like this.

Exactly. Calgary was really sucking for bike infrastructure until only just recently, and even then there is still work to be done. The cycle tracks have been a real success so far and I do give the city hall and mayor credit for pushing them, but we must keep the foot on the pedal - pun intended. Maybe the success of the cycle tracks can be used as an example in Edmonton for those arguing for more bike infrastructure.

@Always_Biking They're being used as an example across all of North America - that's something to be proud of. Edmonton would be stupid not to look at that as one of the best examples to work from.
That's cool! I didn't know anybody outside of Calgary was paying attention to them. Makes me want to get on the bike and cruise some of them today :)

Really cool site for monitoring pedestrians and bike traffic in Calgary. Right now for Calgary it only does four locations.
