I prefer they would've kept the mid-century vibe here too...but it's going from fairly mediocre to fairly mediocre, so meh.

I still remember when they refaced that red/blue building next to it (late 90s/early 00s-ish). I wonder what it looked liked originally.

They absolutely murdered it the whole rhythm and vibe of the facade is ruined with the introduction of the darker horizontal bands and removing the thinner dark brown vertical elements from the original. Big disappointment.

Yeah I agree, it looks worse, but not a total disaster.

So wish we had got McIntyre Plaza built on that block back in the ‘80s:

That plaza / street level would have been a bit of a mess, makes me thing of what was done at Suncor along 6ave

If they keep the arches along the bottom of that Barclay proposal, it'll look interesting at the street level. It's a shame the windows had to change, but I guess we all knew that was coming.

Yet another project happening on 4th street. Can't complain about 27% of the units being affordable housing as per CMHC guidelines.

I believe this was the old IBM building. When I used to walk downtown as young lad I always thought this is such a cool building.

Yep, used to be IBM, and then CWB for a while. Too bad they have to re-do some of the exterior, I like that mid-century modern look.

As much as I like these conversions, the downside is the facade change to some of the older buildings from the 60’s. The buildings from the 80s I could care less about the façade change, but the older ones have that funky style to them.
