I feel this is a large enough project to warrant its own thread, but you can crosspost this to the Springbank Hill thread if you'd like.

Today was the open house for Aspen Village by Vesta. The sales centre is very nice, and there is a full physical model of the project, focusing mainly on the first phase. The plan is to target full buildout in 8-10 years (which is kind of crazy after hearing Nostalgia is aiming to do the same thing). 4 years for the East site, and 4 years for the West.

I really appreciate the landscaped courtyards between the buildings. It's far better than the parking lots we normally see.

Oh, and also, I stopped by this convenience store that just opened up in one of the small mixed-use buildings in Springbank Hill. It's called Mikey's House in Orion by Slokker. Kind of tucked away in the corner. The owner was really nice and asked me to spread the word about his shop since business has been slow, so I guess I'll mention it here.

With the Blue line expanding in the north… wonder if this kind of density will bring LRT to 85st?
It absolutely should! Not just this site, but the entire stretch from 77 to 85 south of 17th Ave is seeing an incredible amount development. Not to mention West District just a bit North of this area.

There is some incredible density going up in Springbank Hill and West Springs. What is so remarkable about it to me is that for the longest time this part of the city hated seeing even row houses going up in their community, and now they're seeing among the densest greenfield development anywhere.

Didn’t take pics but I noticed a couple drills already working away on site.
I think what you saw was Truman's site with drills. Vesta's site has only had excavators, and they seem to be going a lot slower than Truman's. But they also have sloped walls for their pit, so they might not even be shoring.

If only doing one line without spurs, it should stay on 17th. I can see someday down the road a spur might make sense given the amount of density going up in the west district area.

This part of the city still hates seeing townhomes.....
"How dare you try to put a peasant that can only afford a million-dollar townhome as my neighbour?!? You must be able to afford at least $3M to live near me" - Springbank Housewife

That's more like the Springbank that I remember.

If people are that opposed to living in a proper urban environment, I can't understand why they don't just sell their multi-million-dollar homes and buy an acreage in Sharp Hill or Bearspaw?
