    Calgary International Airport

Great to see more aviation related projects. It’s playing a part in the steady diversification away from oil and gas.

Calgary public disorder & safety thread.

Downtown and the Beltline have gotten substantially worse in the past year or two. There are homeless people everywhere you go in the Beltline these days. The part that’s alarming to me isn’t the number though, it’s how aggressive they are compared to the past. Is it the type of drugs they’re...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Probably won’t be 12, but even at 12 it might not be an issue with the park. I’ve noticed Ezra which is 10 floors doesn’t shadow the park very much.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Housing is part of the solution, and I am all for the various levels of government throwing money at some sort of housing solution. Anyone who thinks housing is going to fix the homeless problem is living in dreamland. It’s going to help some people, but there’s a large number of people it’s...

Very Japanese feeling. Reminds me of the hotel I stayed at in Tokyo.

    Statscan numbers

Agreed. Everything is relative. Vancouver feels bigger and more urban than Calgary, and maybe on a ‘ratio’ a higher urban ratio (population ratio to urban feel), for lack of better wording. Toronto feels much bigger than Vancouver and to me has a higher ‘urban ratio’. For a city roughly double...

Colours and Chocolate have also aged well. Battistella needs to get back in the game.

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

Good to see. Even though it’s resource based it’s still diversity from oil and gas.

The truck in the background says Tent and Event rentals, so most likely something for Stampede.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

I’m in favor of forced treatment. I recognize it’s a form of prison, but it’s better than actual prison. It at least gives someone a chance to recover and they’re looked after. Also for the public it keeps them off the streets Assuming it’s run like the jail system there shouldn’t be a wait...

    Calgary's Downtown Population

It’s strange that the boundaries include part of Mission but not all and yet includes the Stampede grounds and Fort Calgary. Outside of that, the boundary tracks fairly well. Are there any stats from the 2011 census or earlier? Seeing as we’re making predictions, I’ll throw in my prediction...

    Kensington Mixed Use | 20m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

Of all the inner city ‘destination’ neighborhoods, Marda Loop, Bridgeland, Inglewood, Mission, Beltline and Kensington, I I would still take Kensington all costs equal, but I have to admit those other neighborhoods are really evolving. They’ve come along way and easily rival Kensington these days.
