    It gives Transylvanian vibes.

In fairness they are neighbours with Alpha House and it is situated on the biggest car sewer in the city.

You should check out Westman Village for nice fountains and water features.

The size of the towers seems exaggerated in that skyline shot compared to the diagram. The way they dwarf nearby condos makes it look like the girth of the Bow.

    The deVille | 52.12m | 13s | Remington | Gibbs Gage

For some reason I thought it had been longer. Or maybe it’s just been since it was announced and fenced off? DP was released over 2 years ago.

    The Nines | 22m | 6s | Opus Corporation | Gravity Architecture

Drove past earlier this week and it looked really good in person. Even though it’s not even finished construction it feels like it’s been there forever cause it fits so perfectly.

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I love how donors and corporate sponsorship have rendered institutions unidentifiable from one another or even recognizable to the public. This includes our new arena and Sam Centre.

I 100% thought it was part of the performing arts campus.

    General Construction Updates

Went to the zoo on the weekend and the entire Asia section all the way to the tigers is ripped up and under construction. Can’t find any plans anywhere and wondered if someone here might know.

    Symmetry at quarry Park | 16m | 4s | Remington | Arcadis

That’s interesting. I was wondering how much taller they were going to build that thing. It almost blocks the view of DT from Deerfoot north. I also recall reading they had plans to sift the rubble for years to come to recycle the materials?

It’s crazy how much residential there will be facing a landfill.

Was wondering when this would get above grade. Seems like the crane’s been there for years.

Looks like it was setting up a pile driver.

Also look at AHC 6th Ave for something elegant and well designed on a budget. Slapping tons of gaudy colour on a poor design seems like an attempt to hide how bland and awful it is but ends up making it look worse.

Mobile crane on site at the corner of Barlow and 114th. Couldn’t tell what it’s being used to lift.

This thing reminds me of the Baydo towers abomination in Saskatoon. I thought we were beyond building shite like this.

    AHC 6th Ave | 25m | 6s | Attainable Homes Calgary | Hindle Architects

Even if they staggered depths on each side by offsetting the boxes a little it would help a ton. Imagine it with a pixelated pattern. The flat box shape does look work campish. This is the housing equivalent of temporary classroom trailers at schools. I find the modular townhomes by avalon in...
