West Village Towers | 149.95m | 42s | Cidex Group | NORR Dubai Yahya Jan

I refuse to believe that those white panels are intentional. There is no pattern to it, random full piece of spandrel here, random triangular there. It makes no sense. Whether or not they get around to replacing them is another story, but there are still key pieces missing on the lobby level...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

That's good to see for dog owners in the area. Laughably this is the other designated off leash area close by Calgary, Alberta https://maps.app.goo.gl/thTihNTLdZXmAAof6 Sandwiched between 14th Street and Bow Trail. Not exactly a safe place to have a dog running around.

I lived in the Castello building when the plans were drawn up for this development and I remember people were pretty unhappy about it. I can understand the loss of downtown view, but the alley treatment and retail makes this a real positive for the block and property values.

    General Construction Updates

Does anyone know the story behind the half finished house on the 14th Street hill by SAIT? 1111 14 St NW https://maps.app.goo.gl/XeQqJudBhBwYnBTs6 Going back on street view, it's been this way since at least 2012. There was a DP sign on it last year for multifamily but obviously nothing has...

    Calgary Restaurant Thread

Roy's opened last week. They were operating out of another restaurant earlier in the pandemic for takeout only. Do yourself a favour and get the brussel sprouts and gochujang chicken wings. Your life may never be the same.

From that distance and angle it looks like someone drew a sad face on it with the way the white panels are arranged

There is no way that is a design choice. It took them a year to have glass delivered, I imagine it will take a long time to have replacement pieces delivered as well.

    Calgary real estate market

From what I know about the building is the SAs were to pay for the balcony repairs (3? Years ago) but since that time it has been problem free. Just looking at other similar age builds and $/sq ft the fees are on par. Wish I had the money as it would be a great rental property you could charge...

There was a small crew there this morning working on the site offices on the East end. Hopefully this will be starting back up soon.

    Calgary real estate market

With so much inventory in the condo market it's easy to get distracted by the new and flashy condos. I found that the best newish condo building was Castello. All the 2 bed units are large (>1000sqft) and had floor plans that are extremely functional. Looking at the listings in that building...

    11th + 11th | 138.07m | 44s | Intergulf | Ramsay Worden

Noticed as I was driving by in the morning they were testing lighting features on the edge of the balcony on the SE corner. Looked really good and I was hoping it goes full height

    Infill Development Discussion

That fence is impressive. Should keep the unwashed masses from getting a view of how the other half lives

    Park Central | 138m | 40s | Hines | S.C.B.

Good to see! The scaffolding was always filled with garbage from people camping out in there when they decided to enclose it with promotional hoarding. Not sure why they thought that was a good idea...

    RNDSQR Block | 44.8m | 12s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

Looks amazing, I hope they can get moving on this and remove that used car lot. Just to note that on the other site that shall not be mentioned there is nothing but hate towards this project... I do understand some criticism towards the size and the feel but it's pretty hyperbolic over there.

I believe the overall number of units for the 500 Heins buildings under construction is around 1000 units. This site is much bigger so 2 towers could make sense with a large podium and small unit size

    Crane Count

There is a tower crane going up for the Palliser building re-clad. When I went by today it stood about half the height of the building with no boom installed yet

I personally like the way this one is turning out despite what others may be saying. I only wish they hadn't closed the sidewalk on all sides of this site. There are constantly people walking down the bike lanes and on 4th Street. It's a shame that the city allows builders to block pedestrian...

That may make sense as they took down the renderings posted out front a week or so ago. I just assumed it was dead.

Nice shot! Brookfield is actually starting to fill up. That is Cenovus space being fitted out in that photo but it looks like there is more going in mid tower.

I've sent multiple complaints to 311 about them leaving barricades and signs on the corner forcing people to walk in the bike lane. I don't know how you would get by in a wheelchair. Hopefully the more people complain the more they will keep all modes of traffic moving smoothly.
