    The Morrison | 119m | 35s | Western Securities | Hindle Architects

Alberta also seems to boom when the rest of Canada is struggling, and conversely struggle when everywhere else is booming. Considering the country's economic challenges with tariffs etc, and the two big condo markets in a downturn, I could see some GTA/Lower mainland developers trying their...

I think Ottawa has lots of new highrises going up, although their skyline is a lot more dispersed than ours, with a much smaller downtown and some big highrise clusters in the west end and Dows Lake areas, where a lot of the taller new projects are happening. And none anywhere near as tall as...

Legends Tower in Oklahoma City is an example of a proposed building that will look ridiculously out of place in a skyline (arguably OKC's Devon tower already does that). In terms of sheer number of tall buildings, Calgary is comparable to LA, Houston, Dallas and Atlanta - I think it's safe to...

Nice to see a mid-block highrise...a sign we are becoming a proper big city.

Just out of curiosity - why are people thinking 20 floors could be chopped off the top? That won't help alleviate any concerns residents of Sasso and Vetro would have about height, since 50 storey buildings are still going to leave them in shadow, and if anything might result in wider bulkier...

Fair. But I'm tired of them being just good enough to miss out on all the good draft picks while still missing the playoffs.

    JEMM 16th Ave | 25m | 6s | Jemm Properties | NORR

Well, between this project, Harmony and Munro further east, and hopefully the Shoppers site a few blocks to the west at 4th, there will be a good thousand or so more people living along 16th in 2 or 3 years which ought to really help make the street feel more urban and vibrant.

I'll agree with that 100% once the Flames stop sucking and we get a proper stadium befitting a city of our size

I get what you're saying - I think an overly tall building can throw an otherwise attractive skyline off balance. But I also think that the renders are exaggerating the buildings' heights a little bit - the taller building is only 100' taller than Brookfield, and the smaller one is slightly...

Can I ask where you found those numbers? I just checked and the elevation drawings show 277.3 and 245.55, in line with what Surreal posted a few days back? Unless I'm reading them wrong, which is certainly possible...

Problem is, low ticket prices are about all Flair has going for them. Take that away and why not just take WJ or AC, and at least you can count on a reasonable degree of reliability. Porter at least differentiates themself with a unique product- narrow body jets with only 2 seats a side, free...

Yup that's the one. I was just too lazy to add in the additional addresses.

Most of the reports I've seen recently are calling the rental market "balanced" after a few years of really tight supply. Regardless, keep in mind that there won't be much supply coming onstream in the downtown/Beltline market for a couple years, since most of the projects currently underway...

Agreed, I'm a fan too - it's a simple but attractive building. The base of the building is brick and the tower portion is metal panels, although they are using red-brown and bronze-gold colours which should make for a nice change from what we usually see.

A "Tuesday surprise"...new DP submitted, this one for a 35-ish storey 390-foot tower called "The Morrison" at 1400 ST SW. Developer is Western Securities, architect is Hindle.

    Calgary International Airport

I have taken 3 flights on Flair, two of which were delayed (one by about 5 hours which resulted in me getting home at 4 am). I would definitely not take a connecting flight with them, and would be reluctant to fly them again unless the savings were huge. I'm too old to roll the dice on abysmal...

AC has been doing Calgary dirty for a few years now. But I do agree that at least WJ's pricing is quite competitive.
