Why Calgary is losing its young adults?

I recall this has come up before. I'm sure everyone has a take on the reasons behind it. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/calgary-losing-young-adults-census-data-analysis-1.5444969

Toronto gets much of its density from a mix of towers and rowhomes, duplexes. The best example I think is Montreal. High density more evenly spread out. It's not a city of high rises, but high density neighborhoods built up from low rise multifamily housing.

This is exactly what I've always thought. Fill up empty parking lots before building towers. I'm not a fan of the way development is going in the east Beltline with a cluster of tall towers surrounded by empty lots. The tall towers are better than the empty lots that were there, but I would far...

I agree. The building as a whole looks good in person, but the podium especially is better seen in person. The wood color panels look much better in real life.

    Crane Count

Crane up at Deville. I saw earlier today. We’re now at 39 cranes. Not too shabby.

You bring up some good points @Beazley66. There are things I like about this project but there are a couple of things I am wondering about. I’ve been wondering about the glazing on this project since I first saw the rendering, and wondering if this is actually what it will look like in the end...

That's just it. I would love to see a bldg like this on that one particular lot, and I'm okay with the scale because it doesn't have houses as neighbors and it's on a busy corner filling an empty parking lot.I wouldn't want to see too many of these in Inglewood however. If you could limit larger...

At 12 storeys the Inglewood community Nimbys will be out in full force. Let's hope the city has some common sense and gives this the go ahead. For all the issues the city is facing funding for those new greenfield communities, this is a chance for them to show they are serious about trying to...

Avli has turned out very well. What a great addition to Inglewood.

    Wolf Den | 13.72m | 4s | Brava Developments

These kinds of projects are great. Small, but great scale for the neighborhood, reasonable density addition with retail. Inner city Calgary could use a couple hundred like this.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

There's something under construction on the east side of 14th street at about 2nd or 3rd ave. Not a large site, but a construction site nonetheless. Anyone know what they are building there?.

Would be a great spot to put in some restaurants. River rafters could stop in for a pint.

I've heard from a friend who works in a hotel that the occupancy rates in downtown hotels are still busy. The hotel she works at (The Hyatt) is busy. They are full up on many nights, and mostly full on the other nights.
