    1405 - 4th Street | 77m | 24s | GWL | Arcadis

I never commented on this, but I have to say it’s as banal as they come. It’s as if the Stella tower got knocked up.

    Bow33 | 22m | 6s | Truman | NORR

Was the land sold by the city? I’m not disagreeing, only clarifying.

What makes you think it’ll be a while?

    Racism and Zoning discussion

I don’t doubt that racism was a motive for zoning in past times, but I doubt it’s playing much of a part in the Glenmore Landing proposal, if any part at all. Most is coming from the usual gripes of traffic, shadowing, parking, noise, or just plain opposition to change. I’m guessing some...

    Calgary International Airport

If YYC wasn’t seeing the growth it is, not much would change for Edmonton or Winnipeg, they would have to go through Toronto or Vancouver instead, and they still have that option. At least for Edmontonians they can drive down to YYC and not have to transfer at another airport.

    Park Central | 138m | 40s | Hines | S.C.B.

In the latest picture it shows they have poured 39 floors and the floor they are pouring now might be the roof, if it's the 39 floors we are told. If they start pouring another, it's prob going to be 41 like the original title.

    Hudson Condos | 20m | 5s | Sarina Homes | Casola Koppe

I'm okay with only part of the building being brick. It being on the front side and on the lower floors is where it's most important. Unfortunately brick is expensive these days, but at least they put some on one.

    Well done Remington!

    Calgary International Airport

I wonder if it’s going to be the case? With plenty of connections to other European hubs people have other options besides FRA, unless of course they’re going directly to that area.

    Calgary International Airport

I had to chuckle about this. The Edmontonians on SSP were too busy celebrating AC dropping the Frankfurt flight to notice that we actually gained flights 😁

With it being half built hopefully someone can buy it and finish it off.

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

Lots of things involving my father in this thread ha ha. My parents currently live in Medicine Hat! They moved down about 15 years ago and they like it a lot. Of course, they like the slower pace, and my father grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan so Medicine Hat’s lifestyle is the sweet spot for...

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

The 90s was an interesting decade for AGT/Telus. My father worked at Telus and I remember some the things that were happening around that time. AGT was always heavily-based and controlled out of Edmonton and for decades was a cash cow for Edmonton’s economy. Even though AGT received more revenue...

Looks promising. Materials will decide this one.

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

Lots of people love the low density setup in these older communities and I get that, but they aren’t willing to pay extra tax to support that inefficient low density, instead relying on other higher density neighbourhoods to carry to burden. Having higher density projects scattered around older...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

AFAIK those two projects are the only ones that are using or planning to use corrugated metal. The metal they used at Courtyard 33 is not as cheap as the standard corrugated metal used for roofs, was about 50% more (and up to double the price) than the ubiquitous Hardie plank/easy trim exterior...

    WestUrban 37th | 16.5m | 5s | WestUrban | FAAS Architecture

It looks like a gas pipe or something going into the shack. Maybe some kind of utility building?

    Office Space Conversion

It's not a big amount of units, but once they're converted they forever be residential. If we can convert a few more here and there it will add up over time.

    Homespace 12th Ave | 16m | 4s | HomeSpace | IBI Group

Nothing to write home about, but serves a good purpose, and is good urban filler.
