    General Construction Updates

No splash pad/ wading pool? Big failure in my mind. That is the type of thing to bring down more families and children. I’ll have to ride down there and check it out in person, but from pictures it seems underwhelming and disappointing.

Good God those white panels are terrible. Such a let down. Brick is looking good…..sigh, would have rather had the old apartment block instead.

Those are great! Get them up ASAP!

    General Construction Updates

Construction timeline projects in this city and country are a joke though. Something like this would have been done in a fraction of the time in Asia and parts of Europe. I get the frustrations of the businesses. Look at Eau Clare….3-4 years to redo the plaza….that is a joke. The same thing is...

    Dominion Centre | 44m | 11s | Alston Properties | ATLRG

I really like this one. The glass actually looks great and the white accents are nice. Top 3 conversion for me so far.

    Hampton Inn by Hilton | 56.08m | 17s | Triple One | NORR

Woof…doesn’t look anything like the rendering. Looks worse lol. Oh well, hopefully it remains hidden amongst the bigger buildings.

    Alpine Park I ?m I ?s I Dream Development

I’m not a fan of “themed” districts or areas trying to replicate a specific style, but if there was ever an area that should have followed a specific architectural trend it would be Trinity Hills. How you don’t design this new community located at the bottom of a ski hill to resemble a mountain...

    EV606 | 22m | 6s | Alston Properties | ATLRG

I was hoping it would be a little more of a brighter white, but it’s still really good!

    Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

Why not have the gondola start beside the new arena, go down stampede trail, turn right and follow the BMO, then hang a left and go past the new hotel and Big 4 and end by the grandstand building. Or just build a permanent Ferris wheel as mentioned above.

    Glenbow Museum | 43m | 9s | DIALOG

So I’m assuming the glass that is supposed to be curvy at the top corner of the building will not be transparent? Looks like there is interior walls already set up. That’s disappointing.

    Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

I like it! Will really be a nice focal point and entry into Stampede Park from 17th Ave. They better not VE the greenery on the roof and canopy, that makes a huge difference to the feel of that area. Also sad to see Weadickville go. Wonder if there is another area they could rebuild it, maybe...

    Broadway on 17th | 154m | 47s | Vesta | Zeidler

How about we go big and land an Eataly? I’d settle for a Lina’s or large Italian store as well.

    Arts Commons | 18m | 4s | City of Calgary | KPMB

You think that mock up looks good? One nice hail storm and that stuff will be dented and pot marked in no time! I never was a fan of the design from the beginning. I thought the slats were to be treated wood which would at least have been a nice touch. I’m not a fan at how heavy and thick that...

    Arts Commons | 18m | 4s | City of Calgary | KPMB

Not what I was expecting. Obviously I’ll wait until it is closer to completion, but this already downgraded a mediocre design to begin with. I really like the Olympic Plaza redesign, Arts Commons….not so much.

I remember that tune! Man, $3.99 for a full combo…those were the glory days.

    1st Ave NE Shoppers | 12m | 2s | First Capital | Collabor8

Oh man, as disgusting as it is, hook up a Beef n’ Cheddar to my veins! Guilty pleasure for sure!

    Gallery First & Tenth | 60m | 19s | Truman

Looking at that picture, I think Bromley is 100x nicer looking than Mount Royal House….woof that is one ugly building and parkade.

    The Broward | 19m | 6s | Truman | MoDA

100% agree. This building will always be tainted in my opinion no matter how it turns out.

    Kensington Mixed Use | 20m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

I think I would choose Bridgeland first, then Kensington, then Inglewood. I have a soft spot for the massive park in Bridgeland and having some pizza at Una followed by an ice cream at Village.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I’m loving all this new development in and around Stampede Park, but my God, will they save or preserve anything? Corral and original BMO demolished, Saddledome soon to be demolished, they announced the agriculture building will probably be demolished in the next few years, there have been...
