    Stampede Station | 277.3m | 71s | Truman | NORR

It's in the mayor's best interest to have 4500 more hotel rooms built in short order. I would guess the industry would have a very different opinion. It's more likely these three proposed hotels openings will cause other hotels to rebrand or close than just adding more high end rooms to the...

    Stampede Station | 277.3m | 71s | Truman | NORR

$1.2 billion. That's probably the value of everything Truman has under construction right now. Those will be some pricey condos. A joint partner has been revealed. https://louson.ca/residential/

    Stampede Station | 277.3m | 71s | Truman | NORR

I recall past Truman DPs having higher floor heights 3.25 * 61 residential floors which is about 198 metres. I get 30 metres each for both podium and penthouse. 255 to 265 metres

There is nothing to hold Truman to that date and an earlier date always sounds better than a later date. This simply isn't far enough along to say it will start to respond to when will it start?

The market for units that can be added to the hotel pool crashed and burned in Ontario once investors got charged commercial tax rates. Vancouver's market is declining while Calgary's is rising. This is still a lot of higher end units to sell. Big step up from 30 storeys and 250 units.

    Nest | 40.23m | 15s | Cairo Development | Casola Koppe

Tons of people are moving to the city. There will be more people on the street in any case. These units aren't cheaper. They're just smaller. I don't care for them as they quickly grow beyond niche with Canada's population growth demographics.

Anything planned for those floor to ceiling windows? Peep show sitting out on the balcony.

    River Club | 56m | 15s | Urban Capital | DIALOG

I mean to come up with this design's vernacular doesn't require originality. There's existing inspirations all over the country. The setbacks on the sides take all the grace out of it. It looks clunky instead of vertical. DIALOG took a mid century minimalist vernacular and ruined it with...

76 units. Average is 5.5 units per floor. I haven't seen the units but, it feels like too many units for the function to punch above its weight.

    Vibe | 51m | 13s | Slokker | Giannone Petricone

Regardless how long the East Village is taking to be built out, it's a still a fraction of the time these buildings will be standing. Anything being built is shortsighted. It's not about personal design preference. It's complete indifference to design. That kinda hurts in a community like this...

    1405 - 4th Street | 77m | 24s | GWL | Arcadis

This tower is too ugly to pass for gentrification. So much going on with the exterior and yet has zero flair.

I can't see any success in selling 5 star condos here. It'll be decades before the area loses its isolation. Spa/ wellness resorts are very popular right now. Private athletic clubs continue to do well. These are other luxury functions that compliment luxury accomodations and are attractions...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Toronto builds 70 storey scrapers across the street from tract housing. It is all big on transitioning height from medium to high rise down to single family. This terraced design...

    Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

I thought you meant the near five star hotels in the city when you said " true five star". The JW Marriott in Edmonton looks the part. It's tall and glassy. It's not a true 5 star property.

This is ideal as some brand's 5 star collection of independent hotels. A medium rise Ritz-Carlton by the Stampede grounds would be disappointing.

    The Loft | 44m | 11s | Institutional Mortgage Capital

They didn't alter the brick facade by covering it with aluminium composite/ spandrel glass or drilling holes through it for venting. That already puts it in the upper echelon of office conversions. I'm not totally sold on the new glazing. The mullions and spandrel colours are right. It's not a...
