    Calgary Flames Official Thread

Marner and Matthews are friends, didn't really seem to matter. RNH and Hyman took a step back this year. If that continues playoffs may be questionable. That team after the first line and first D pair is not even a playoff team. No one else other than Bouchard cracked 50 points.

Or just increase the frequency of the Max Yellow. I was looking at the route, and is there a reason why there's no MY stop at Sunalta Station?

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

For elevated, Not sure if the stations would be any smaller, probably just less vertical distance, overall size probably not significantly different. LRTs are low floor primarily because outside of North America, people just use medium capacity driverless subways if they are building...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I wonder if that's configuration more than anything. C-train's layout is not as common in North America compared to Asia where almost all trains have row seating to maximize standing room. Same with trams, they usually prioritize seating, which leads to the narrow walking paths. Low floor...

Then I don't really mind it that much. Pretty typical facade for a wood frame condo like this.

Is that supposed to be a balcony? or just a sunken window? Which seems kind of stupid.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

This is essentially the same station design (Spadina/St Clair grade separated parts) and uses the same trains as the Toronto Streetcar/Eglinton Crosstown (yet to open). The raised seats are to accommodate the wheels. Not sure if it's due to regulatory issues but the Canadian trams have a very...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Low floor have some capacity restrictions. Even if the official figures are close, in reality people don't go through the narrow, wheel well sections. Are we getting significant savings with every station being smaller?

    Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

That price tag looks pretty impossible for the hotel alone. Found the below for 2023 and 2024 Canadian hotel transactions. These are purchase values, so there's no way Stampede hotel cost $300M or expected to be worth $300M. Even with inflation, Rimrock was only $170M and that location is pretty...

    Office Space Conversion

Here a city map with all the incentive driven projects. https://www.calgary.ca/development/downtown-incentive.html#revitalization Pretty sure the hostel would occupy a section of a building rather than office to hostel 1-1, so it may be a portion of one of these projects.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

It can have treatment but also an outpatient facility so we bring those that O/D to this facility first. For some, they might not be heavy drug abusers, and if there's services there when they leave, they're not going back out on the streets. Something like social workers, affordable housing...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I didn't live here during those times, but from the new Ontario Line in Toronto, previously called the Downtown Relief line, there was a lot of line drawn on the map, and design work (soil sampling, utility locate, etc.) but no construction was happening until all levels of government finalized...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

We can move on from the healthcare point but I find these arguments of it's the difference between putting food on the table or doctor pretty weak. Lots of things cost $30. Vehicle registration is about $100, we collect lots of fuel taxes, we charge people money to use transit, we charge people...

    Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

I don't remember a hotel being in plan, but wouldn't be surprised it's added. Close to lots of amenities and walking distance to the Stampede/BMO. If I was going to a convention I'd much rather stay there than right on the grounds.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Not familiar with building infrastructure, but is this how it typically works? Local governments starts relocating utilities, building new walls and bridges before the project has provincial and federal funds? We've built two LRTs, the city definitely hired from the outside for this, yet the...

    Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

I'd think Broadway or Stampede Station are more likely before City Centre 2. It'll need to be mixed use, and I doubt anyone is proposing any additional office space in Calgary, and that location isn't that ideal for residential imo.

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

Hopefully the UCP can tread on the line carefully. I don't think Smith or people in her government actually want this, but it is a political reality where they need to win votes. Having a referendum fail is probably their ideal outcome - give the people the vote and avoided any consequences...

    General Construction Updates

And the beach recliners? Shouldn't a park have infrastructure that encourage people to socialize? Picnic tables or something similar seems like a much better choice than 5 people lying there sunbathing.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Based on income a bank teller job is probably not within the top 25-33% of income earners. And definitely not the top 10 percent. The vast majority of people in the US are covered by private plans. 65% of individuals in the US are covered by private plans. That doesn't include retirees which are...
