I'm curious if they're planning on demolishing 1232 9th ave SE then, since it's right beside the old CIBC building and doesn't seem to be anywhere in the rendering or the scale model they made. The building's not really anything special so I doubt it'll be missed but I'm curious anyways.

Calgary's finally getting some riverside restaurants. It'd be good to see a few more appear further on the west end.

Happily it's not really anything special getting torn down, although I can't say what's being built is a significant upgrade aesthetically either.

Hmm... central staircase that spirals upwards, check... prominent use of light colored wooden paneling, check... slight elongation of the whole circular structure situated dead center in the building, check... overall beautiful design that will make photographers in Calgary drool at the mouth...

Well what can you do, it's west end of downtown/the beltline. I'm pretty sure it's physically impossible for a stylish building to be built on that side of downtown. The population boost will be appreciated though.

Although I can appreciate the density boost and the design is good for these towers, it would be a shame if this building was torn down. It's got a lot of character and has a rather original design. It would suck to see it disappear.

You know, this is kind of an exciting and very unexpected way of us getting a building of over 150m in height in Calgary, especially considering the fact that I can imagine many people didn't expect anything other than West Village Towers in that height bracket for a while.

Can't answer your question in regards to what's planned for it, but that is the first school that ever opened in Calgary so I doubt they're tearing it down considering that building was already moved once.

If this starts soon, I will cry tears of joy. Always hated that massive empty space in what should be midtown Calgary(though the Stampede and Saddledome parking will be missed and appreciated.

The blue and white looks sharp, but it's the lower 7 floor section with it's light brown color(not sure what it's supposed to look like, wood panelling?) feels very out of place.

The street level of the building and the pedestrian alleyway are nice but what I meant by it having an outdated design is the bottom 7 floor section facing the 12th ave, 4th st intersection(the edge of the building facing central memorial park). The colors are quite bland and the design is...
