    Lincoln | 120m | 37s | Truman | NORR

So I did some sleuthing and it turns out Truman has applied for a partial BP for foundation which makes me think they are doing a "Scotia Place" and proceeding with shoring & excavation right away, regardless of appeal period. Keep in mind, Scotia Place is technically now in appeal period...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I think under the circumstances, having a longer but fully at or above grade GL isn't the worst thing we could have ended up with. Assuming this goes ahead, my only worry is what that means for Eau Claire after all the expropriation and impending demolition. Knowing that transit isn't exactly...

I was thinking that too. I wonder if they got some kind of "volume discount" from some of their contractors with these 3 towers starting up nearly all at once.

100% agree. We are in a position of choosing between two shitty options. Although I feel like this whole process has been a years-long comedy of errors by both the city and province. It's remarkable that the Feds actually come out of this looking comparatively competent for once.

I hear you about how architects come up with these goofy and pretentious analogies and BS metaphors. You make some good points although I still mostly like the arena. But respectfully, I think the activated streetscape is the thing that was most important for them to get right.

/\I'd suggest that these predictions don't take in a number of unknowns, such as: -The Feds are going on the assumption that all of these TFW's and other non-permanent residents will all just willingly pack up and go home, which increasingly seems unlikely; -If large numbers of non permanent...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I'm not aware of any development plans for this site, and I don't see why they'd be doing anything related to Green Line until things get sorted with the Province, but I am wondering if a developer is planning something. Between the soil sampling and surveyors being out, it's a possibility...

On Monday at lunch hour I walked by there and there was a survey crew in the same area.

Wong won because there were like 17 candidates in Ward 7, and they were all mostly saying the same things. To his credit, he was the only candidate of all those who came to my door. Sometimes in a crowded field, that little bit of extra effort pays dividends when people are largely undecided...

That turned out really well IMO. Proof that 6 storey wood frame can look good when properly executed.

I like it. Not as flashy as the original design, but going wood frame with a more simple layout probably makes it a lot more feasible economically, and thus, more likely to actually get built.

I gotta admit, Turkish Airlines is one I did not see coming. But if it comes to pass, that would be great!

    Connaught Mixed Use | 95m | 29s | Cressey | Chris Dikeakos

Not bad. The taller tower gives me "4th Street Lofts" vibes, right down to being 29 storeys. I do like that the two towers are quite different in shape rather than being twins. The podium could use a bit of work though. However, since I just assumed the project was dead, this is good news.

    West District | ?m | ?s | Truman

It is frustrating that we are literally getting suburban style townhomes at the first C-Train station west of the downtown area (Shag Point), while we're getting a 30 storey tower in West Springs. The way the city is developing, at some point we may need to rethink where we build primary transit.

And honestly, maybe it's time Council focus its investments in areas that are accepting of intensification. We are closing pools, for example, in Beltline and Inglewood rather than in these communities whose residents don't want to see any population growth. These communities are advocating...
