Interestingly, in that same CH article, Liricon is proposing a separate study be jointly financed by them and the province and to be completed with a three month timeline! Why would theirs take only three months to complete versus the province/city study of 1+ year?

Not sure if a seasonal/occasional street closure will help or hinder businesses along it. They sure suffered whilst construction was occurring. Would not be impressed to a repeat of that! Having said that, as long as the businesses are in support, as a citizen I would be too!

I am surprised that they’ve already spent thousand of dollars on a “Calgary Cancer Centre” sign when it was recently announced that the building will be named after a donor, so they will have to change it and spend more money to do so?

That article appears to be from 2018? So well before the pandemic began. I wonder if that is still the plan? It looks beautiful and big and spacious but I wonder if the money or the ambition to complete it has dried up since that plan was announced.

Routing the 100 on to the “goat path” aka 36th street is such a mistake. The traffic on that stretch is horrible at times! It should skip 36th and avoid the congestion, until such time as 36th is widened!

So the owners are gonna get a huge subsidy from various levels of government to help pay for the thing and are still going to increase ticket prices?!?! 😵‍💫Imagine ticket prices if they had to pay for a larger share of the cost!!!! 😯

I’m surprised to see there’s living units in the basement for an assisted living facility! Yes it appears to follow fire safety code wrt windows, etc but I would not feel safe living in a basement if I were someone needing assisted living level of care.

Yet, except for the small retail/office area immediately adjacent to 96 Ave, the rest of the land remains undeveloped with no imminent construction.

Probably will be closer/faster for Airdrie residents than is the PLH.

Well they have now identified that the site for the North Calgary/Airdrie hospital won’t be equidistant between the two communities, but indeed in North Calgary so might as well stop saying it’s an Airdrie hospital. I wonder if it’s on that large site north of Stoney Trail off of Centre Street...
