Actually a masonry wall (either structural or veneer) is one of the most durable and long lasting wall assemblies that exists. Certainly more durable than the cheap metal siding they've covered it with.

    Trees in Calgary

That's dumb. Maybe the city should lead by example and start planting / maintaining / actually watering street trees in the downtown and Beltline.

Those site plan changes have me cautiously optimistic!

Yeah the precast panels were much classier than the tacky random stripes everywhere!

    Calgary International Airport

Which is crazy because a decade or so ago Pearson was a really pleasant airport to fly through but now it's on par with some of the worst airports in the US IMO. Unfortunately I have to be in Toronto regularly so I've witnessed the decline firsthand.

    Calgary International Airport

Last Westjet flight I took was full of connecting passengers from Winnipeg, Edmonton, Sask, and interior BC. It's much nicer to connect in YYC vs. Pearson for example so not really surprising.

This would have looked a million times better had they left the brick pilasters and top relief pattern band in place and just infilled between with a nondescript cheap cladding material (like below). Covering the brick up with crappy metal siding is a crime against architecture. 😢

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Wouldn't the floorplates be way too big to work as resi? Bankers is still probably one of the more desirable office addresses in the city.

    Cars, Pedestrians, Cyclists and Transit

LOL it's not like eleventh street is a commuter route. It's mostly local traffic - peds, bikes, and vehicles. Investing upwards of $50 million dollars (likely higher) to make connectivity worse (ie. the "recommended" plan) is horrendous capital allocation. As a pedestrian and cyclist who uses 11...

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Sounds like you haven't been to a well designed convention centre. This is what the interface with 17th at the SW corner of the building should look like. Instead we got a massive precast brick wall. It's just lazy design.

You can't fool us bruh - we know you're a corporate shill for those fatcats at CSEC and the Airport Authority. 😉

Between him getting butthurt about Sutter's joke last season and this little hissy fit I think its plainly evident that the guys doesn't have the mental toughness required to be a winner and a leader on a team. He's had more than enough time to adjust to a new environment and when you're making...

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

I agree that fundamentally we are a resource producing country, that is our competitive advantage and that is where we should be concentrating our efforts. However, energy prices are high now and have been for the better part of the last 2 years yet we are not seeing the recovery in GDP per...

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Honestly all of those examples are far superior to what is proposed! You know what would have been fantastic - a 3d neon sculpture inspired by the art deco neon cowboy that was on the Corral. Would have been culturally / historically appropriate for the site and really interesting. Another...

YES! Stampede Park is the place for this type of thing - not some try-hard contemporary crap.
