I think the architecture is misleading. It is very good at conjuring imagery of 1980s office towers but the actual street presence doesn't seem to have that same hostility. While it's nice to have CRUs I don't think it's necessary. The little plantered arcades are nice. The diagonal planter...

I couldn't care less what format this building is. I'll take something that gets built tomorrow over longterm speculation any day. We need to fill these inner city spaces yesterday. Maybe this can then spur the Blackfoot truck stop redevelopment.

Eventually, McLeod needs a driving lane deleted from either side to be replaced with street parking or public realm extensions, at least north of Chinook. I doubt there would be strong public support at this point in time, though.

Just biked by this spot the other day. Looks good. We need facilities like this in every community. IMO should be the gov doing this en masse and not left to separate orgs like the mustard seed, but I'll take what we can get.

Maybe kind of gossipy, but the South Bank/Block apartments were funded by a private party with a vested interest in Inglewood. I believe they retain ownership. AVLI is basically funded by a big corp, REIT money kind of thing, pretty sure it's just a line on a spreadsheet for the capital behind...

Likewise, I find this to be distasteful. It highlights the hole where the old structure currently is, which is both smart and depressing.
