Don't get too excited if you're in the area and see some building construction near the 6th Street underpass. A new Utility Building is coming.

Wouldn't say nothing was built. Cowboys casino was built along with the north expansion of the BMO Centre, along with the Stampede youth campus. The Stampede also bought all that land between 12th Ave and 14 Ave so they didn't really need to lobby anyone too hard to tear down the derelict structures there. And the Stampede never completed their plans for the land they bought simply because the economy slowed in the 2010s. And that's just the nature of being a boom and bust city, which we're all accustomed to. The Stampede has also done more to redevelop the land they bought in the neighborhood than Remington ever has.

I also disagree with the view that East Victoria Park would currently be anywhere close to Kensington, Ramsey, or Inglewood. The area was isolated between the Stampede and rail lines, which was the reason for it becoming a slum. Today, without serious redevelopment it would still be close to what East Village was around the time redevelopment started there.
The opening of BMO, extension of 17th ave/LRT stop, new arena location, demolition.....to expect anything to have occured over the last 12 years with all those balls in the air, was beyond wishful thinking. Now that a proper road network exists, including connections to the north and west, it will have everything it needs in 18-24 months. The lack of development in Rivers allowed more development in the Beltline and EV....I think we will see that shift over the next 10-12 years with Rivers/Beltline carrying the load. To the west village dreamers...not great!
