I have a thought this morning after seeing the work on the community arena. If the big arena is the Fire Place, is the community rink the Fire Pit or the Furnace?

City owned community arenas if following the pattern typically aren't given a corporate sponsored name.

I wanted the outdoor viewing area to be called the “Fire Pit” rather than the Red Lot.
Or perhaps the “Bon Fire”.

Red Lot is kinda corny. I like how Edmonton has the Moss Pit, but I'm not sure we have something similar to call our viewing area. I'd like for it to just be the C of Red

I always thought the C of Red was used to refer to the fans inside the arena. Those viewing outside the arena can have another (equally cool) name. The "fire pit" is cool, but yes kind of ripping off Edmonton (even though our name would make sense and theirs is stupid)

Any way they try to turn Stampede Trail into this? Naturally it was 17th, wonder where it will be on the next run.

I think it would still be 17th, especially now that it connects directly into the stampede grounds. Stampede Tr will need a lot of bars to steal 17th's thunder. Melrose was the heart of the Red Mile in '04, wonder what place would step up now.
